Here's a roundup to get you started.
Here's a list of 2025 Orientation events. Check it out for info on our Sensory Friendly Open Day, our Warm Welcome event, and plenty of opportunities for free kai.
Did you know that OUSA, the Otago University Student Association, also serves Otago Polytechnic students? Check out their list of awesome orientation events.
This map will help you find your way around our Dunedin campus.
OPSA is an independent organisation within the Polytechnic and is run by students for students. They run events, supply advice and will independently represent your thoughts and support/advocate for you.
OPSA also process your student ID card so, if you don’t have one yet, head along to their desk in The Hub and they’ll help you out. Don't forget, your student ID unlocks some great discounts around town!
If you’re an online/distance learner, you can still get an ID card. Just email IDcards@op.ac.nz with your details (full name, date of birth, postal address, 240x240 passport style digital photo).
Want to connect to the wifi? Check out this guide. Need some tips for your first day? Want to get in touch for some one-on-one advice? Student Success (your support services at OP) have put together a page with all you need to get started – from IT help to study tips to info about student life.
Almost everything you can imagine is included in the menu bar across the top of your Kāpehu homepage. Make sure to take a look through the different tabs so you can have a sense of where to find the info you need. Here are just a few helpful links to get started:
