We have made some changes to our Compassionate Consideration process to ensure you’re getting the support you need along the way.
If you need to withdraw from your programme and this is after the last date for withdrawal with a refund, you may be eligible for compassionate consideration for circumstances or events outside of your control.
Compassionate Consideration
Compassionate consideration may be considered for the following reasons:
- Medical, supported in writing by a health professional
- Work-related, supported by a letter from an employer.
Application/outcome process
- If you need to withdraw and would like to be considered for compassionate consideration, you will need to let your lecturer or school administrator know.
- They will then provide you with the relevant form and help you fill it in.
- You will need to provide evidence to support your application. Our Student Success team (or our Māori Student Support Centre for our Māori students) will help you with this.
- Your application will then be sent to our Compassionate Consideration Committee.
- They will consider your application and either approve it, ask for more information, or pass the decision along to our Deputy Executive Director: Academic Delivery to make.
- Our Academic Registry team will let you know the outcome of your application.
- If you’re not satisfied with the outcome, you can appeal the decision (see Ākonga Appeals Policy).
